The TARA Approach is a clinically tested paradigm developed by neuroscientist Stephanie Mines for the effective resolution of shock and trauma in the human nervous system. TARA shows the nervous system the way home after overwhelming and shattering disruption. We learn to listen to the body, to read it, and to follow its directive. It is as simple as that…our hands are our ears; our voices are our hearts; and intuitive spontaneity is our intelligence.

Students may also opt to only participate in the 2-day Self-Care portion of the course, January 17th-18th.

Jin Shin TARA Cranial Training : The Social Engagement System.
Jan

to Jan 25

Jin Shin TARA Cranial Training : The Social Engagement System.

The TARA Approach to cranial treatment evolved out of Dr. Mines’ research with Traumatic Brain Injury and Neurodiversity. It is a fusion of Cranial-Sacral Therapy and the work of Stephen Porges and Stanley Rosenberg, along with other influences, to release the twelve cranial nerves. This flows out of an understanding of the Social Engagement System that includes the Polyvagal System.

In this course students learn:

1. Exercises to prepare themselves to be able to use the palpation skills required for cranial treatment;

2. Ways to assess each individual’s readiness and availability for cranial reorganization;

3. Assessment skills to read the health of the Social Engagement System;

4. An overview of the relationship between early trauma/shock (including birth trauma) and the Social Engagement System;

5. Tools to evaluate cranial structures;

6. Palpation skills to read cranial rhythms;

7. Interventions to release cranial nerve impingement;

8. How to implement safe cranial treatment without fear of any contraindications; and

9. How and when to integrate cranial treatment into other modalities, especially other aspects of the TARA Approach.

This course is considered an Advanced TARA course and counts as a credit for Advanced Certification.

ADVANCED TARA - Building Nervous System Stamina for a New Era/Ending Addiction

This advanced training has two components. The first focuses on how the nervous system can be vitalized and regenerated no matter what its biography. In this course those who are interested in being Sustainable Healthcare Practitioners, leaders in a climate changing world, buttress their nervous system resilience and enhance it exponentially so that the echoes of historical trauma become extremely faint. Participants have the opportunity to truly step into their capacity as healthcare leaders ready to empower others to do the same. Of necessity, this involves ending habituation. This leads to Part Two of this course: ending addiction. You read that correctly. COMPLETELY ending addiction. This component includes not only energy medicine but also another palpation process that has to do with cranial treatment. Subtle, nuanced and completely safe cranial applications uncouple habituated and consolidated neuronal pathways to liberate optimum resilience. The nervous system comes home to a spontaneous and liberated body. Healing trauma is thus the path to freedom. Students receive a guidebook for cranial treatment as well as charts, maps and handouts.

Course tuition is entirely non-refundable but can be transferred to another similar program within one year.

This course will demonstrate how we can, with our own hands, bring our nervous systems back home to our bodies. This means using the gentlest energy medicine as the seductive siren song that convinces the human nervous system that it no longer needs to remain fragmented. An ancient Japanese healing art called Jin Shin has the recipes for this restoration of nervous system function. Dr. Stephanie Mines has adapted these formulas for current conditions, and even for those that are accelerating now through the advance of climate change. The TARA Approach is a merciful system, named for the forces of compassion that reach out to humanity to show them the way. Jin Shin TARA shows the nervous system the way home after overwhelming and shattering disruption. We learn to listen to the body, to read it, and to follow its directive. It is as simple as that…and as miraculous. Our hands are our ears; our voices are our hearts; and intuitive spontaneity is our intelligence. Who ever thought that healing trauma could be pure joy?

Location outside of Bellingham, Washington will be sent upon registration.

Course tuition is entirely non-refundable but can be transferred to another similar program within one year.

ADVANCED ESSENCE AND EMPOWERMENT: THRIVING IN A CLIMATE CHANGING WORLD BY ENDING SHAME & ADDICTION

TARA Approach students at the 2017 Advanced Essence and Empowerment course asked for a continuation in 2018 of the TARA Approach to Ending Shame and Addiction. Using neuroscience to comprehend the patterns of satisfaction and compensation that are thwarted by trauma, TARA Founder Stephanie Mines developed language and energy medicine protocols that shift habituation of all kinds. As we enter the era of accelerated climate change we are called by Gaia to step into the full power of who we are and act in our own unique and collective ways to stand for the Earth and the children of the future, as well as all the creatures and beings of our blessed Natural World. To support this movement into a New Story of who we are individually and together this course focuses on ending old patterns of shame and addiction gracefully and thoroughly. This workshop is open to those who have absorbed TARA’s Foundations and are ready to inhabit their soul’s essence and be free of the entanglements of the past. ADVANCED ESSENCE AND EMPOWERMENT is a highly experiential and emergent threshold dance that incorporates hands-on energy medicine practice with expressive and creative events that free us on the spot and in the moment to be our full selves. Get ready to turn the volume up on the authentic message of your incarnation!

The Dance of Life: Experiential Embryology ~ How We Unfold

  • Salt & Soul Yoga Studio (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Dr. Stephanie Mines is a neuroscientist and trauma expert who founded the TARA Approach, a holistic healthcare paradigm for the resolution of trauma. Stephanie incorporates the healing art of Jin Shin which she learned from the woman who brought it from Japan to the US, Mary Iino Burmeister. Jin Shin includes a map of the body with areas that Stephanie calls the Sacred Sites. These are derived from the folding and unfolding process of the human embryo. In this two day courseparticipants learn to identify and experience the power of these sites through the dynamics of movement.

The objectives for this weekend of movement based learning are self-discovery, self-awareness and self-care. The Sacred Sites combine to create simple acu-touch practices that enhance resiliency at all levels including immune vitality, muscular tonicity, flexibility, endurance, longevity and rehabilitation.

There are no pre-requisites for this course. It is open to everyone. It will be especially interesting to healthcare practitioners, parents who want to learn about early development, bodyworkers, dancers, movement  teachers (including yoga teachers), healthcare and healing arts practitioners and anyone committed to developing human potential. Students of Jin Shin and the TARA Approach will experience an in-depth and profound exploration into the Sacred Sites to deepen their understanding of them. This course applies towards certification for those becoming TARA Approach practitioners and teachers.

Participants learn:

*About embryological unfolding;

*How movement patterns originate;

*The source of structural strengths and difficulties;

*How to repattern suboptimal movement and structural dynamics;

*How to balance the nervous system using the Sacred Sites;

*How to support children in optimizing development and sensory integration;

*The source of habitual injuries and how to end those patterns; and

*The freedom of authentic movement.

Participants should dress comfortably for movement on the floor. There will be a break for a light meal. Our sharing will be in the context of group co-intelligence and is not intended as psychotherapy.

The Art of Listening to the Body
Aug

to Aug 13

The Art of Listening to the Body

Somatic listening is an art you can learn. Health is efficiently restored when the body's messages are heard and understood. By reading the pulses of the Five Elements and evaluating cranial structures and rhythms you can identify core issues and from this identification know what interventions to use. The TARA Approach is returning to Norway August 11-13, 2018 to impart this art.

TARA Approach Certified Teacher and Advanced Practitioner Runa Helmersen has established the TARA Method in Norway. She has been preparing her students for this advanced course for over a year. You can join them in the exquisite Norwegian town of Friedrichstadt and share the magic of Norden Lys, the Northern Light, which is also the name of the lovely clinic in this historic village where the course will be held.

Advanced TARA practitioners see through the veil of symptoms and pierce to the essence of need. The tools in this course enhance this skillfulness alongside another TARA hallmark tool: attuned mirroring in language.

Learn how to read somatic advertisements of need and answer them efficiently. Be more than a healer or healthcare practitioner. Become a mentor by embodying the art of somatic listening.

Tuition: $450USD*

*This price does not include lodging, meals, lodging or transportation. Lodging can be arranged at a nearby hotel (Gamlebyen hotel, http://gamlebyenhotell.no is one suggestion). Food can be bought nearby and stored in the refrigerator at the center. Several small restaurants and cafes are in walking distance from the center.

WEBINAR - THE GUIDANCE TO ACT: HUMANITARIAN ACTION BASED ON INTUITIVE KNOWING

WEBINAR - THE GUIDANCE TO ACT: HUMANITARIAN ACTION BASED ON INTUITIVE KNOWING

In these times when democracy is threatened, violations of human rights abound, vulnerable populations are attacked and it seems that ignorance has the upper hand, those of us who cannot turn away in denial must learn to be strong and to act from a secure sense of profound inner knowing. We each have a role to play but identifying that role and then nourishing it so that action is rooted in connection with ourselves and the natural world is essential.

How do we manifest this clarity and take grounded action?

This webinar teaches you how to utilize the Five Elements of Nature as your mentors on the path to grounded humanitarian action. Through hands-on applications, meditations, visualizations and interaction with the natural world you will build an inner architecture of alignment and decisiveness.

The Five Elements of Nature within us and around us are each part of the web of life that holds us up as we reach out to humanity and to the world.

In this webinar we will:

  1. Learn the formula for our individual elemental configuration;
  2. Create relationships with all five elements and learn how to mobilize them for empowerment;
  3. Ignite a personal meditation to assemble the elements within for action;
  4. Develop the ability to listen to the instructions and recognize the signals coming to us from the natural world;
  5. Seal our clarity so that we are secure and protected somatically and do not breach the limits of our capacity;
  6. Let nature teach us about the prevention of burnout; and
  7. Learn how to rest in the unquestionable knowing that we are not alone.

Survivors of trauma build compensatory mechanisms that make it difficult for them to face confrontation and threat. Sometimes we are very successful in these realms but pay a heavy price afterward with strong internal backlash that denies our power. Or we live with a continuously interfering saboteur within who downgrades our accomplishments.

Trauma interferes with our birthright of empowerment. This webinar includes this understanding and provides antidotes to this habituation so that it is ultimately silenced forever. Most importantly, the relationships that we build with the Five Elements and the natural world assure that we are always able to validate and verify our intentions so we move forward with grace, always able to regenerate from the hard work of forging a path where none existed before.

If you would like to attend but cannot due to to timing you can still register and we will send you the recording link.

EVOLVE: A CLIMATE CHANGE & CONSCIOUSNESS Pre-Conference Event

Art Infused Healthcare with Stephanie Mines and Dana Lynne Andersen
June 11-16, 2018
Ananda Laurelwood

This six day immersion has two components. Participants are invited to register for all or either of the moving parts.

Part One - June 11-14 - Facilitated by Stephanie Mines

The TARA Approach to Empowered Healthcare in A Climate Changing World

This course defines and implements sustainable healthcare in a climate changing world. Our primary teacher is the Natural World. How do the Five Elements of Nature evolve in our bodies during our formative years? How is their evolution shaped by our experiences, just as a tree is shaped by the wind? Your elemental story is the story of the development of your personal nervous system.

Participants gain access to their deepest and most essential natures and learn how to support others to do the same. The methods include understanding the language of the Five Elements in their human idiom. This language is communicated in behavior, voice, skin tone, energy pulse, health symptoms, personality and movement. By translating your elemental idiom you unearth your essential nature and find your purest expression, the one that you took on a body to present to the world. In this way each participant will experience a kind of birthday during these four days.

The formula for thriving in a climate changing world always includes the expressive arts. Because Stephanie knows this so well she has invited a collaboration with Dana Lynne Andersen, founder of Awakening Arts Academy. This collaboration shapes the remaining two days of our immersion. This is the birthday party!

REGISTER HERE FOR PART ONE

Part Two: June 15-16th ~ Facilitated by Stephanie Mines and Dana Lynne Andersen

CELEBRATE WITH HeART with Stephanie Mines and Dana Lynne Andersen

Your birthday party is an opportunity to be guided by the brilliant artist and founder of the Awakening Arts Academy, Dana Lynne Andersen, in using the visual arts to express your neural networks and your elemental truth. We will go one step further in our celebrations by linking our neural networks to those of the world. Stepping out of the world of language into the world of art we will expand our personal expression as far as it will go with color and shape. By finding out who we really are we also find our inter-relatedness with our global community. Self-advocacy becomes a pathway to advocacy for all humanity. When this syntonic relationship is celebrated we can move fluidly, with laughter and motivation, from I to We find and fulfill our individuated purpose at what is surely the most significant and fateful threshold for our entire planet.

*TUITION DOES NOT INCLUDE LODGING AND MEALS AT ANANDA.

SUSTAINING HEALTH IN TIMES OF CHANGE - a Workshop with Sally Ibbotson

IN BENEFIT OF CLIMATE CHANGE & CONSCIOUSNESS

In this workshop we will look at the impact of change, particularly unexpected change, on our health and will learn techniques which can help us to cope better.

We live in fast moving times and change even that which is for the better, can often adversely affect our immunity and resilience to disease.

Faced with climate change we can see that in those areas already effected, usual healthcare routes quickly become overwhelmed. We would do well to reconnect with natural and time-tested traditional ways to keep ourselves and our families/communities healthy.

The Workshop will focus on daily protocols for health

Mindfulness in Daily Life:

Mindfulness is now being brought into healthcare settings, schools and prisons as evidence mounts that it is an effective way to keep ourselves happier and so healthier.

Qigong:

Qigong is the origin of Tai Chi and is very easy to learn. Moving in time with the breath, we will learn short routines to assist breathing, mobility and general well-being.

Self-Healing Massage:

A fully clothed routine of acupressure that you can use to ‘kick start’ your day!

Raising Funds

The Workshop is by donation with a suggested fee of £15.

Profits will go to the Conference for Climate Change and Consciousness taking place in Scotland in 2019. The money raised will go to bringing youth and indigenous people to the conference so that those who will be most affected by climate change, have a voice.

See www.ccc19.org

The workshop is supported by Transition Willesden. The Transition movement aims to put in place local solutions to global issues such as climate change. Picking local fruit to stop it going to waste, and campaigning for cleaner air are some of the projects undertaken by this local organization.

Free Community Talk - What is Sustainable Healthcare?

Free Community Talk - What is Sustainable Healthcare?

Sustainable Healthcare means healthcare resources that ignite the natural healing response within you. The orientation is not towards what others can do for you. It is towards what you can do for yourself. The concept behind sustainable healthcare is that it is self-sustained and self-regulated.. You are not dependent on outside resources to move your healing forward. Think of the value of having access to these kinds of resources during difficult times such as when there are natural disasters or unforeseen events cut you off from external resources. Sustainable Healthcare is not intended to be a replacement for outside services. It is intended to stand on its own whether those outside resources are available or not. It is integrative. It is accessible. It is always available once you have been awakened to it. Learn how to turn on the confidence to apply the practical steps of sustainable resources during this experiential community event.

THE NEUROCHEMISTRY OF GRATITUDE: A Free Community Talk

The potential to live vitally every day of our lives is inherent in the human design. Just as the healthiest, most natural nutrition maximizes this potential, so does brain nutrition ignite innate consciousness, clarity and intelligence. Recent clinical studies into what allows individuals to recover rapidly from disease shows that gratitude is one of the most efficient stimulators of the neurotransmitters that optimize healing. Neuropsychologist Dr. Stephanie Mines shares not only why that is so from a neuroscience perspective, she also reveals how each one of us can arouse that neurochemistry, no matter what our history, through gentle self-care practices that enhance brain function. Interactive demonstrations will enhance everyone’s deep learning.

This community talk is open to the public. Energetic Wellness generously provides unique opportunities for learning and development in their classroom. Space is limited. Early registration is recommended by contacting Energetic Wellness HERE.

THE BODY’S WISDOM: INTRODUCTION TO THE TARA APPROACH with Dr. Stephanie Mines

Friday, November 17 ~ 10am-12pm and Saturday, November 18 ~ 10am-6pm ~ ENERGETIC WELLNESS

In her clinical and personal quest for how individuals who experience trauma can recover with grace and ease, Dr. Stephanie Mines learned that the brain and the body are resources for activating recovery from destabilizing experiences. Her talk on THE NEUROCHEMISTRY OF GRATITUDE reveals how neurohormones that enhance focus and presence are activated by overt and internal expressions of gratitude. THE BODY’S WISDOM shows you how your own touch on certain sites of the body accelerates health. The combination of healing thought and healing touch makes it possible to live a resilient life every single day no matter what the outside conditions may be. We can evolve more and more throughout our lives. The body and the brain continually learn and evolve when they are nourished.

Course fee: $150. This does not include materials. The TARA Approach to Self-Care, Map of the Body and the book WE ARE ALL IN SHOCK can be ordered directly through the TARA Approach website (www.Tara-Approach.org). By ordering in advance you can be prepared for the course thus allowing everyone to have a more profound experience together.

At the request of TARA Approach students this four day advanced training focuses on how the TARA Approach can be used for issues of alignment, movement and structural ailments, particularly when they are chronic, and cranial treatment. Dr. Mines approaches these questions from a comprehensive standpoint. What do your structural ailments have to do, for instance, with your family history, your epigenetic exposures, and your immune system? Could it be that the symptoms that grab your attention are not really what are behind your pain? The TARA Approach Advanced Training offers stunning insight into alignment disorders alongside cutting edge subtle treatment interventions. Students will see, for instance, how positioning in utero and at birth shapes structural development. Students receive training manuals dedicated to this field. 10-5 Daily; $700USD tuition only.

Accommodation can be arranged by students directly through Star of the Sea Retreat Centre.

Dr. Mines is dedicating this Foundations program to the power of the Eight Extraordinary Meridians. New as well as returning students will be bathed in what makes the TARA Approach utterly unique. The treatment pathways we utilize are the very ones designed to resolve core issues. In fact, acupuncturist Yvonne Farrell calls them “The Holy Grail” of energy medicine. She says that the Eight Extraordinary Vessels “remind us of the uniqueness and perfection of original self and allow us to bring forth the light that is our purpose for being here. They put us back on track to pursue our destiny.” This energy medicine is your birthright. When you match it with the TARA dialogues that increase awareness, you receive what belongs to you ~ the healthy life you were born to live. 10-5 Daily; $800USD tuition only (repeating students ~ $750USD)

Women's Circle Retreat

The Women’s Council is hosted by Joey Walters, founder of Awakening Feminine Leaders, in collaboration with TARA Approach founder Dr. Stephanie Mines; movement therapist Deborah Jay-Lewin; Scottish novelist Margaret Elphinstone; singer/songwriter Eleanor Brown and more, all of whom are co-participating. ”How can we embrace our feminine wisdom and co-create a new culture of care for ourselves and our world?” At the heart of this Circle Retreat is a Wisdom Council; a deep inquiry and sacredly held space to tap into our collective wisdom and power as women. The practice of the Wisdom Council is rooted in ancient Earth Wisdom Teachings and nature-based Circle principles that will guide our inquiry. We’ll explore the most essential personal and collective questions we are holding about our role as feminine leaders in creating a cultural shift that breathes feminine consciousness and balance into our world.
