Distance Learning
Distance Learning Units (DLU’s) are designed to provide Foundations and Advanced courses for students who want to study at home at their own pace. Those aiming for certification are required to take one iteration of the Foundations course and the Practicum in person as well as completing DLU’s. For Advanced Certification, at least one Advanced Training must be completed in person.
The order for the Foundations series is:
1. Distance Learning Unit on Pulse (this is the equivalent of the Self-Care component of the Foundations program);
2. Module One Distance Learning Unit; and
3. Module Two Distance Learning Unit.
DLU’s are carefully structured with exercises and guidance for learning. Students receive feedback on their completed exercises directly from Dr. Mines. Completion of the entire unit is required for the certification process. Advanced DLU’s can be used for Advanced Certification and/or by students who want to further their learning. These are available to you if you complete the Foundations series. The Advanced Distance Learning Units are:
1. The Depths;
2. Resolving Prenatal and Birth Shock; and
3. Cranial Treatment and the Social Engagement System.

The Module One Distant Learning Unit is designed to allow students who cannot travel to courses to follow through with their TARA Approach studies, beyond the Self-Care level. Module One develops your wisdom and skill in: Pulse Listening; The Five Element System; Meridian Treatments; Healing Developmental Trauma; and How to Conduct a Complete TARA Approach Treatment. Students utilize the Module One text, a DVD on Energy Pulse Reading and appropriate charts and handouts.

The Module Two Distance Learning Unit provides the student with a clear orientation to the palpation of the pulses of the Extraordinary Meridians or Rivers of Splendor. This level of pulse reading paves the way to masterful healing skill. It makes it possible to see causative factors and unravel them. Students are introduced to the concept of The Depths. Treatments for all the Extraordinary Meridians are provided in the Module Two text. The prenatal energy system that is the basis of this healing art is matched with embryogenesis, site for site. This Distant Learning Unit takes you to the heart of the TARA Approach. It deepens the student's understanding of Pre and Perinatal Psychology and provides the energy anatomy of formative development.

This Distant Learning Unit focuses primarily on balancing the Social Engagement System and the Twelve Cranial Nerves. Dr. Mines clearly identifies the embryology of the Social Engagement system and its evolutionary development in our culture of sensory overload. Students learn how to assess, evaluate and relieve the burden on this formative system and most importantly, how to liberate it from those burdens!
This innovative DLU includes three one hour Skype sessions with Dr. Mines to assure accuracy of palpation and hand placement. The interventions are clearly described, step by step. All interventions taught through this process are without contraindications.
This Distant Learning Unit is perfect for TARA Approach students and practitioners but it can also be used by massage therapists, parents, and anyone who has a somatic, energy medicine or bodywork practice. Psychotherapists will benefit from understanding the physiology of the Social Engagement System.
For those with a pediatric practice, a pediatric and sensory integration emphasis can be added in the Skype sessions with Stephanie. For TARA Approach students who are already certified at the Foundations Level, advanced material can be included specifically for you to make this a source of advanced credit in your ongoing certification process.

Students of the TARA Approach who have completed the Foundations Training are eligible for this DLU. The Depths are an underlying philosophical component in energy medicine treatment using Jin Shin TARA. They are a relative of the extraordinary meridians, and they are therefore an approach to the treatment of prenatal life. While The Depths are a simple treatment design, the background intention that informs them stimulates a profound awakening to the importance of human embryological development. Advanced students of the TARA Approach must incorporate The Depths into their treatment protocols and their understanding of subtle energy medicine. The course includes exercises and questions. Students receive direct feedback on their home study from Dr. Stephanie Mines.

Students of the TARA Approach who have completed the Foundations series are eligible for this DLU. This course directs the student to understanding the crucial role of prenatal life in development. Students are required to complete a questionnaire about their own prenatal experience. Both embryogenesis and organogenesis are thoroughly addressed. Education about environmental conditions that impact prenatal development is also included. Treatment to support optimum gestational attunement as well as treatment for post-natal life for both mother and child is incorporated into the energy medicine component of this learning unit. The TARA Approach is unique in its emphasis on the prenatal origins of health. All TARA Approach students are encouraged to explore the role of their personal early history and the cultural implications of industrialized birth. Dr. Mines responds directly to student responses to exercises and questions in this learning unit.

A comprehensive distant learning unit on pulse is now available for those who would like to enhance their training or for those who cannot travel to attend a training program. The Distant Learning Unit on Energy Pulse Reading qualifies as an Introductory/Self-Care training for those seeking certification. The Unit includes Dr. Mines' personal responses to the required exercises. Students will utilize the TARA Approach Self-Care and Energetic Pathways texts.
This Distant Learning Unit educates the student to read pulse on the Sacred Sites of the Body. In this way the Distant Learning Unit goes beyond the usual Introductory course and serves as a bridge between Self-Care and Module One training. It also includes a thorough explanation of the Five Element system that is fundamental to Jin Shin TARA. The beneficial effects of energy medicine on the nervous system are described clearly, making it easy for the student to see why the TARA Approach is the most direct route to recovery from overwhelming shock and trauma.
