Subject Yoga and the Mind
Date October 10th-11th, 2008 ~ Level I
November 1-2, 2008 ~ Level II
Location Balancing Monkey Yoga Center ~ The Big Island, HI
Price* $125 ~ Each Workshop
Teacher Stephanie Mines and Heather Heintz
Course Description We see the empowerment process as one of attuning the body and clearing out the cobwebs from our brains, nervous systems, tissues, and joints. When primitive responses, both physiological and emotional, no longer rule our behavior, we are liberated into a spacious spontaneity that directs all our movements and expressions. As we do this clearing away, we begin to know what it means to truly live. We feel both our inherent buoyancy and our earthiness. Life becomes a celebration when we step into the present and the shocks that occur, whether large or small, are wisdom teaching to expand awareness. This workshop will expose both cobwebs and the awareness.

This workshop is a combination of yoga asanas led by Heather Heintz and therapeutic repatterning facilitated by Stephanie Mines. Participants will practice deeply and decondition and release chronic restrictions.

Location Lotus Blooms Massage Institute ~ The Big Island, HI
Price* $360

Course Description All care-giving professions have a shadow. The terms "vicarious retraumatization" or "burnout" are often used to identify this all too common phenomenon. This course is designed to prevent burnout from ever happening to you. We will shed light on this mysterious shadow land and penetrate its mysteries. Most importantly, we will learn dependable methods to support therapists from ever falling into the black hole of exhaustion. This workshop is highly personalized. All participants will acquire individual tools they can use immediately to prevent burnout and vicarious retraumatization, or the tendency for therapists to internalize the traumas and negativities of those they serve. Client assessment, self-care protocols, purification practices, intentional boundary setting, preparatory and closure cleansing will be taught and implemented. Specific tools and techniques will be provided to regenerate the joints and muscles that get repeated use and even abuse in massage therapy, Hands-on treatment is incorporated into every aspect of this workshop. Location Oklahoma City, OK
Price* Early registration by October 3rd: $175
After October 3rd: $250
Teacher Eloise Schafer
Course Description Shocks, traumas and everyday stresses cause disruptions and imbalances in our nervous systems, which manifest as physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual symptoms and patterns of behavior. The TARA Approach healing system empowers individuals to take charge of their own health and well-being and guides them toward using their own resources to self-heal by balancing their nervous systems.

*Relief of painful physical symptoms;
*Increased immune function;
*Release of old destructive thought patterns, habits and coping mechanisms that hold you back;
*Resolution of emotional wounds
*Maintenance of health and greater sense of well-being.

Subject Helping Children Find Resilience and Balance after Trauma
Date October 23, 2008 ~ December 8, 2008 ~ February 25, 2008
Location Online Workshop
Price* $45 per class
Teacher Stephanie Mines Ph.D.
Course Description The key to helping children find resilience and balance after trauma is to help them as soon as possible after the trauma or nervous system overload occurs. This supports them to not get stuck in compensatory behaviors. This workshop with Stephanie Mines, Ph.D., founder of the TARA Approach for the Resolution of Shock and Trauma, focuses on teaching language and energy medicine that can be used immediately and safely by parents and care providers.

The TARA Approach for children combines subtle, specific touch on meridian pathways with healing stories. A simple map of the body is provided with clearly identified locations that stimulate innate healing responses. Story structures designed to encourage neurological sequencing blend with this energy medicine treatment for the complete resolution of shock and trauma.

In this presentation Stephanie will focus on the following situations:

*Babies’ experiences of prenatal and birth trauma;
*Medical procedures;
*Severe accidents;
*Sexual abuse;
*Adoption;
*Divorce, separation; and
*Loss

Stephanie is known for her remarkable capacity to evoke the healer and storyteller in everyone. She developed Jin Shin TARA, an acupressure like system that swiftly and gently sends messages of relaxation and balance to the nervous system. Stephanie’s storytelling protocols for children are now being tested in clinical trials and have been shown to be effective for children with cognitive struggles resulting from early shock. She is the author of The Dreaming Child: How Children Can Help Themselves Recover from Illness and Injury (Dom Project, 2003).

Subject Integrated Cranial Treatment: Incorporating Cranial Treatment with Massage Therapy
Date October 24th-26th, 2008 ~ 10AM-6PM Daily
Location Lotus Blooms Massage Institute ~ The Big Island, HI
Price* $360
Teacher Stephanie Mines
Course Description Incorporating cranial treatment into massage therapy enhances and uplifts the therapeutic experience for both client and therapist. Releasing tension in the occiput and sub-occipital muscles substantially lightens the burden for the body. Intracranial structures that are compressed can make it impossible for the rest of the body to let go and experience innate resiliency and vibrancy. The cranial structures develop within the first month in utero and retain the influences of our earliest experiences. Patterns of restriction in the cranium, face, neck and shoulders have frequently been retained since this formative time. True and lasting release requires subtlety and delicacy in treatment. Students will learn energetic and manual releases for inter and intra-cranial structures, the cranial nerves, and the facial structure. Cranial nerve treatment also profoundly releases neck, shoulder, and arm and hand tension. A protocol that is easily incorporated into massage practice will be provided as well as lengthier designs. Cranial anatomy and ontology will be taught, with an emphasis on practical applications. Students will give and receive cranial treatment daily.
